Arm lift

Flabby arms are annoying for many people, and some may find it difficult to get rid of them with nutrition and exercise programs alone. In our center, we are fully aware of the impact of sagging arms on living a normal life without worry or discomfort, and we offer an effective solution to them through arm lift surgery.

Using the latest modern cosmetic techniques at Dr. Ahmed Abdel Gawad Center, this cosmetic procedure has proven effective in getting rid of stubborn fat and sagging skin in the upper arms and has changed individuals’ lives for the better.

Arm lift procedure

Through the arm lift procedure, you can get a tighter and slimmer arm. During the procedure, the surgeon removes excess fat and gets rid of flabby arms. The good news is that this type of cosmetic surgery is long-lasting and is sometimes combined with liposuction of stubborn fat to achieve the best results.

Details of the arm lift procedure from Dr. Ahmed Abdel Gawad Center

Prior to the operation, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Gawad conducts a comprehensive evaluation to determine the appropriate steps and potential limitations of each technique. In general, the steps of the arm lift procedure are as follows:

  • The procedure begins with making small incisions on the inner side of the arms, from the armpit to the elbow.
  • Removal of excess fat and sagging skin after accessing it through incisions.
  • Liposuction techniques can be used and combined with the procedure to sculpt and tighten sagging arms.
  • stitch the remaining skin back tightly, taking care to close the wound in a way that conforms to the natural curves of the arm.

Dr. Ahmed Abdel Gawad makes sure that the scar is nearly invisible, as the incisions are placed entirely in the inner part of the arm.

Arm lift case studies: deep shift

:Patient file

A determined young woman embarked on a weight-loss journey and achieved great success in shedding excess weight. However, her victory was obstructed by a significant excess of skin, especially on her arms. This excess skin was a major problem, severely limiting her clothing choices and causing distress. She felt ashamed, so much so that she avoided going on vacation, because she was unable to deal with the comments about her looks.

Realizing the impact of excess skin on her clients’ confidence and quality of life, the decision was made to perform arm lift surgery, known as the “Bingo Wings” surgery. This transformative procedure involved removing excess skin and underlying tissue to sculpt and define her arms. The client actively participated in the planning process, ensuring that the placement of the scar was appropriate for concealment and consistent with her aesthetic preferences.

After arm lift surgery, the client experienced a remarkable transformation, both physically and emotionally. Freed from the discomfort caused by excess skin, she regained confidence in her appearance and embraced her new freedom in choosing clothes. She was no longer limited to covering her arms, but felt able to enjoy life’s experiences without fear. Although the scar may fade over time, the long-term results are a testament to her courage and the life-changing impact of arm lift surgery.

There is a lot to talk about regarding surgery.

Frequently asked questions.

Arm lift Surgery (brachioplasty) is a very effective technique to get

rid of stubborn fat and loose skin, from the upper arms, that you have

been unable to remove through diet or exercise.

Some patients may find that there is excess fat on their arms but

they do not have the excess skin present that categorically suggests

a arm lift is needed. In these cases liposuction may be a more

suitable treatment.  In other cases where both excess fat and

skin is present, Mr El Gawad offers liposuction in conjunction

with the arm lift surgery to achieve the desired outcome.

Arm lift surgery is usually done under general anaesthesia.

There are some clinics however that may do arm lift surgery

under a local anaesthetic with sedation.

Under a general anaesthetic you will be totally asleep during

the operation whereas under a local you will be conscious but

sedated so that you are not able to feel any pain.

The above will depend on the surgeon you are having it with.

If you are having a general anaesthesia for your arm lift surgery you

will be asked to avoid food or anything to drink for several hours

before the operation takes place.

The surgeon will make precise cuts along the inside of the arms

before carefully removing the excess skin that normally hangs

underneath the arms. The skin is then stitched back into place.

In some cases liposuction would be also used to remove any

excess fat and sculpture the shape of the arms.  The surgeon

will try to place the cut lines with the natural contours of the arm.

This is to help blend any resulting scarring.

Arm lift surgery usually takes two to three hours.

You may be required to stay in hospital overnight to check everything

is ok.

Many people believe that arm lift surgery is only performed on

Women. The number of men that Mr El Gawad books in for arm lift

surgery, from his clinics in Liverpool and Manchester, increases

year on year. Therefore both men and women can have arm lift

You will be offered pain relief to help with any discomfort you have

after your arm lift surgery has taken place.

You will not be able to drive after having arm lift surgery therefore

someone would need to drive you home.

It is advised that you have someone stay with you for a day or two

after leaving hospital.

The recovery time is very individual and will vary from each person

depending on a number of factors. Your stitches will need to be

removed after about a week. Unless you have had dissolvable

stitches in which case they will disappear on their own.

This is just a general guide but it is recommended that the

average person takes two weeks off work after having arm lift surgery.

Do not drive for approximately 3 weeks and avoid

strenuous exercise for 5 to 6 weeks after surgery.

You will see an instant improvement.

There may be some swelling which should subside within

a few months after having your arm lift surgery.
